Unser Tourvan...

Whoever wants to discover Samoa on his / her own has to buy a driver-license at the Ministry of Transportation first. - No kidding !
The driving-license costs about € 3,50 and is valid for 4 weeks, without this driving-license you can't rent a vehicle.

There are neither driving-schools in Samoa nor obligatory technical inspections, hardly any speed- or alcohol-checkings, therefore the conditions of vehicles and drivers are sometimes dangerous ! Be aware, that your car-insurance usually only covers a complete wreckage, broken glass, dents in the body of the car and other damages are up to the renter !
Be careful when driving through a village, as there are people, children, pigs, chicken, cats and dogs on the road at all times of the day.

A cheap alternative to rental-cars are taxis that take you everywhere in town for 2-3 Tala (= 1 €). Or you use the colourful village busses which take you for one or two Euro from the fishmarket in Apia to all districts of Samoa. - Be prepared that you might not only share the bus with nice Samoans but also with pigs, chicken and other pets....

Usually the busses belong to the villages, who use the bus as a shuttle between their village and the markets in Apia......forget timetables !

There are plenty of car-rental-agencies  but if you want a well-maintained vehicle Funway-Rental in Apia (at the harbour ), they are the most professional in Samoa....and they also help in case your car quits in the middle of nowhere !

Because of the bad road-conditions ("craters" in the road , people, animals) the top-speed of 35 mph is rather theoretical and shouldn't be exceeded in you own interest !

We offer guided daytrips including meals and transport in our airconditioned vans and 4wd-vehicles. - We take you to those places  that you would not find, if you go by yourself......please check our  daytrips !
